The Leiden University Data Management Network enjoyed a safari tour around the data hackathons that have recently either taken place at Leiden, or involved people from Leiden. After clarifying what hackathons really are, and how everyone benefits, we brainstormed some ideas for future hackathons.
We explored two different ways of opening up research at an early stage: preprints and pre-registration. How to go about making your research or research plans publicly available at an early stage, and what can you expect to happen after you have done so?
A three-point FAIRification framework was developed during the pandemic to pilot different ways of making COVID-19 data FAIR. Representatives from three cutting edge projects came to discuss with the Data Management Network the success of these, and the opportunities for new activities at Leiden.
